TWELVE students from Swan Hill Specialist School competed at the State Cross Country Championships in Bundoora, Melbourne on Thursday July 14.
Ten of the 12 students finished in the top 10 with Kayla Zielke and Darryn Stevenson receiving a bronze medal, while Venessa Timms scored a silver medal.
This has earned these three students selection into the Victorian Team to compete in the National Championships in Canberra on August 19-22.
All students in Multi Class events are classified according to their disability and receive a classification for either their intellectual or physical disability.
This code is then put into a formula which determines their final placing which is why some students with slower times may finish ahead in placings than other students.
Swan Hill Specialist School is proud of their students as they all ran their very best in cold and hilly conditions.
The training will continue for Darryn, Venessa and Kayla as they prepare for the National Championships and the school will continue to support their families as they fundraise for this trip away.
Claire Barr is also representing the school in Darwin in the National Swimming Championships in August.
