LOCALS agree the recently announced upgrades to the Catalina Museum will help provide Lake Boga with a tourism boost in years to come.
Victorian Attorney General Martin Pakula visited the museum last month to announce the State Government would contribute $297,000 for the $427,000 upgrades, with Swan Hill Rural City Council to fill in the rest.
The improvement works include adding a decking area for alfresco dining, an aquatic-themed adventure park for children, improved signage and lake access paths.
Catalina Museum manager Daryl Allen said it was projected in the museum’s five year outlook that the planned upgrades would improve visitation from 17,000 people a year to about 25,000-30,000.
“It’s probably the biggest thing to happen in Lake Boga for quite some time, because not only will it support us but there is some local employment involved in it and being able to develop this into further visitation,” he said.
