Two more for JJ

JOSH Jenkins has signed a two-year contract extension at Adelaide, ensuring the ex-Lake Boga ruckman will remain at the Crows until at least the end of 2016.

Jenkins was rookie listed by Essendon in 2010 but found himself at Adelaide after the 2011 trade period, without having played a game for the Bombers.

The former Townsville Crocs NBL player has played 33 games and kicked 48 goals since making his debut in 2012.

He currently leads the Crows’ goal kicking.

Speaking to The Guardian yesterday afternoon, Jenkins said he was confident of re-signing with Adelaide.

“It’s been in the works for a little while it was just a matter of sorting it out,” he said.

“I was never concerned at all that we weren’t going to get it done.”

Jenkins said the Crows had four days off with the bye before the opportunity to redeem their poor performance against Melbourne in Adelaide.

The Crows’ next game will be in Adelaide against Collingwood next Thursday night.

Jenkins said he was looking forward to taking on the Magpies.

“We haven’t been playing that well and they have… we will need to bring our A game,” he said.

“We really need to start well which we haven’t been doing and improve our ball work and ball movement.

“We’ve been kicking the ball sideways and backwards far too much; if we can get it going forward and play the way we know we can, we can compete with Collingwood. It’s a huge challenge but we wouldn’t want it any other way.”
