MALLEE EAGLES v SWAN HILL
Swan Hill maintained their tight grip as ladder leaders with a hard-fought six goal win over the Mallee Eagles at Lalbert.
After trailing by a goal at half time, the Swans turned it on in the third quarter, outscoring the home side by seven goals to take a six goal lead into the final term, where they were able to maintain their advantage on their way to a 44-38 victory.
Casey Frame continued her good form after returning from her knee injury, posting a match high 30 goals for the Swans, while defenders Stevie Bibby and Tess Meney were the visitors’ best.
WOORINEN v COHUNA
Cohuna have continued their good early season form with an upset three goal win over Woorinen, which sees them rise to third on the Central Murray ladder.
In a game where the momentum changed hands throughout, it was the Kangas composure and ability to create turnovers in their defence during the third quarter that broke the game open. Despite trailing by seven goals at the final break, the Tigers fought back in the last quarter but were unable to bridge the gap, eventually going down 47-44.
Woorinen midcourters Jaimee Beasy and Ava Crow worked hard all day for the Tigers, while defenders Carly Geary and Marli Easton, who moved into the GD bib in the second half were named as better players for the Kangas.
TOOLEYBUC-MANANGATANG v NNW UNITED
Nyah-Nyah West United recorded their second win for the season to move a game clear inside the top five, with a 20-goal win over Tooleybuc-Manangatang.
Matika Mitchell continued her strong early season form, with the Demons centre’s defensive pressure across the court a big factor in her team’s 52-32 victory. Shanai Kelly and Lucy Millard were also among NNW United’s better players in defence, while Olivia Fowler and Taylah Morris were named as Tooleybuc-Manangatang’s best players, along with Ella Foley.
