MURRAY DOWNS WOMEN
SIXTY-three women took out cards in the Stableford event at Murray Downs on Wednesday, but scorecards have almost become obsolete with most golfers now using an app on their smartphones to record scores.
Who would have thought?
Conditions on the day were fairly warm, the lush fairways from recent rains contributing to the humidity.
Anne Webb posted the best score of the day, 39 points off her 29 handicap, to win B grade from Lakeside Golf visitor Jean Youl (31) 35 points.
In A Grade, Rosie Ficarra (24) and Janette Tucker (20) were successful with 38 and 37 points respectively. The C Grade winners were Sally Fearn (39) 36 points and Lois Heil (42) 35 points.
Jude Simmonds (36 points) and Paula Pickert and Georgina Douglas (both 35 points) led the ball pool.
Lydia Condely claimed the jackpot on the par-three 11th hole when her tee shot stopped 96cm from the hole. Lyn Merrett and Suzanne McLellan also claimed NTP prizes.
Hot weather reduced Saturday’s field with Norma Everett (25) on 37 points and Margaret Moore (19) and Kristy Gordon (11), both on 33 points the leaders.
