RACECOURSE

JACKPOT bowls was played in excellent conditions on Tuesday, with Bryan Bice, Bev Button (Kyabram) and Ernie Russell winning with two wins and +26 shots.

The runners-up, with one win and +6 shots, were Glenn McIntosh, Robyn Roberts and Sharon Harrington, with the trio also winning the jackpot, which made the two girls very happy.

Our jackpot bowls will go back to Wednesday next week.

On Sunday, May 25, we have our Tasco Triples event, starting at 12.30pm with casual dress attire and entry as a team or single entry by contacting Glenn McIntosh on 0408 919 321.

Club members are asked to please bring a plate for afternoon tea.

Don’t forget we have a meeting tonight to select our club selectors, match committee and social committee.

On Friday, May 30, we have our monthly tea with members draw and raffles, so please come along and join in the fun.

SWAN HILL

BOWLERS please note, there will be no Friday Frolic today, due to our club catering for Marie Shannon’s wake.

It was with sadness that we learnt of Marie’s passing, an esteemed life member of the Swan Hill Bowls Club.

Marie was also a life member of the Murray Valley Ladies Bowling Association.

Marie was a past president of the club and also held many positions during her long association with the Swan Hill Bowls Club and was club champion several times, a dedicated member and tireless worker for bowls.

Our sincere sympathy to Marie’s family; she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

On a further sad note, members were informed that Alan Marshman passed away after a short illness.

Alan transferred to the Swan Hill Bowls Club when he retired from Tooleybuc and became a great supporter of our club and an excellent skipper, leading his rink to many wins in pennant.

He was a regular tournament and social bowls attender and a willing helper in whatever way he could.

Alan was also the Murray Valley councillor to the Royal Victorian Bowls Association for several years.

We extend our heartfelt sympathy to Alan’s families.

Friday Frolic will return next Friday, May 30 in its usual time slot and format.

Last Friday, two visitors enjoyed our Friday social game, with Dave Martin from Woodville, South Australia and Point Lonsdale player, Kevin Thompson, both welcomed to Swan Hill Bowls Club.

Nominations for the Swan Hill Bowls Club AGM close on Thursday, May 29 at 6pm.

If you wish to be nominated or nominate a fellow member, forms are in the display pocket, with only full members eligible to nominate or be nominated.

The AGM will be held Thursday, June 5 at 1pm in the clubhouse.
