ON Tuesday, May 6, the Residents and Ratepayers Association hosted a Swan Hill Regional Livestock Exchange forum at Swan Hill Club.
There are a few people that we would like to thank.
Murray Downs Golf and Country Club and the Swan Hill Club, thank you for allowing us to host the forum in your venue at such short notice.
We also want to thank the Mayor Stuart King and councillors of the Swan Hill Rural City Council.
The importance of this topic was evident in the attendance by all councillors.
We would also like to thank Member for Murray Plains, Peter Walsh, Woodward Foods chief executive Steven Rousos and, of course, Leonard Vallance.
These gentlemen all spoke well and passionately about the saleyards and council’s due process.
We would also like to thank the public who attended for your courtesy and respect when asking questions and while listening to answers.
Tuesday night’s forum spoke of the power of the people and I believe the overwhelming conclusion that council should draw from this, is that the saleyards remain in council control, not just for the coming financial year, but for the foreseeable future.
Roger Day,
Secretary
Residents and Ratepayers Association
