RACECOURSE

SUNDAY social bowls was won by Peter Loughran and Bob McIntosh with two wins and +18 shots. Runners-up, with one win and +1 shot, were Richie Doran, Jade Morvell and Noel Hender.

Wednesday’s jackpot bowls was won by Graeme Bennett, Kerry Jenkins and Lindsay Toomer (Murray Downs) with two wins and +28 shots. Runners-up were Lee Thompsett (Swan Hill), Arthur Threadgold and Max Renney with one win and +5 shots.

Our next tournament will be our Autobarn triples on Sunday, August 4, with all entries to Kevin Vivian or by putting your name or team on the board.

This Friday night, we have our double members’ draw and raffles, plus some lucky member who attends the function will win their membership for next year.

Following the draw, we will all enjoy a casserole tea provided by Sharon, our outstanding caterer.

SWAN HILL

FRIDAY Frolic will be on this afternoon as normal, with the forecast looking good at the time of writing at 18 degrees and sunny – what more could one ask for on a July day but to get out and enjoy a game of bowls in the winter sunshine.

Names must be entered by 2.30pm and ready for a 3pm start, with all welcome to have a roll up prior to the game starting.

Anyone interested in giving bowls a try is encouraged to join in with the regular bowlers, who will be only too willing to give you a few tips. All bowlers are in with a chance of winning the jackpot.

Come 4pm, when the air begins to get a chill about it, is when we head into the clubhouse for happy hour drinks or a hot drink and snack, with Mick’s raffles lined up, so buy your tickets and try your luck.

Friday, August 2 will be our next Friday mini-tournament when bowlers are able to enter their own team for our any-combination triples event, commencing at 2pm.

Entries must be in by 1pm to be in the draw, with single entries accepted provided there are enough to make up a team.

Cost is $10 per player to enter, with good prizemoney on offer, a jackpot draw and casual dress, along with all the usual activities that take place after the game in the clubhouse.

Entry sheet is on the noticeboard, or you can call Bill King or 0428 324 083 or Graeme Clark on 0417 409 703.

Swan Hill have entered a Division 1 and Division 2 team in Saturday pennant for the 2024-25 season, with a Division 1 and Division 2 team entered for the midweek pennant competition.

Any bowls that are on gives bowlers a great opportunity to gain some practice for the upcoming season, with members reminded that you can pay at the bar to renew your membership for the 2024-25 season.

LAKE BOGA

TWENTY-three players competed in social bowls this week.

The winners with two wins and a score of +17 were Les Grey, Mick Tempini and Marie O’Meara, with Ian Vernon, Danny Kelly and Ray Leach finishing runners-up, also with two wins but with a score of +3.

Two reminders for club members that names need to be added to the sheet on the club noticeboard of your availability for weekend and midweek pennant teams this season, and that subscriptions are now due and payable to the treasurer.

Pelican jackpot returns this week with names needing to be in by noon for a 12.30pm start.

NYAH DISTRICT

SOCIAL bowls on Tuesday was a windy and cold day.

The winners that braved the conditions were A.Taylor, A.Lindsay and T.Watson, with resting touchers from B.MacDonald, G.McIntosh, and R.Jolley.

The club has also conducted a working bee recently, with thanks to Les, Betty, Bryan, Bruce, Andrew, Ada and Kent.

Just a reminder we will be having a Christmas in July event, with names to be in by Sunday, July 28 at a cost of $10, with everybody also needing to bring a $5 Kris Kringle present.

Contact Kent Coburn on 0419 094 999 or L.Gordon on 0437 072 465 for more information with everyone welcome regardless of playing ability.
