BOWLS NOTES MURRAY VALLEY PLAYING AREA

THE long-awaited start for the pennant season has finally arrived, with all clubs keen to get on the greens.

The bowls calendar is very busy from now until Christmas, with state events for both Men and Ladies on most Sundays and 60 and Over events on during the week.

Thursday November 11 is the 60 and Over singles for Men and Ladies, to be played at Swan Hill Bowls Club.

State pairs for Men and Ladies will be played on Sunday November 14 at Swan Hill, with entries closing for these events on Monday November 8 at 12pm.

The 60 and Over state pairs are on Thursday November 18 at Swan Hill, with entries closing on Monday November 15 at 12pm.

MURRAY DOWNS

MURRAY Downs hosted a very successful match against Barham last Saturday with Murray Downs taking out the honours.

Approximately 90 players took part.

Tuesday social bowls was well attended again.

The winners were – Garry McCaig, Noelene Weir and Joe Sapuppo.

Social bowls will revert back to Thursday next week at 10.30am, with names to be in by 10am.

Saturday pennant starts tomorrow with midweek pennant also beginning next Tuesday.

The draws for some of our club events are on the board for the men, with the Club Singles, the 100 up and the club triples all to be played as soon as possible.

The Ladies also have their club singles underway, so please try and play them when you can.Racecourse has Country Hearing Care any Combo Triples Tournament on Sunday November 14 starting at 12.30pm.

Names on the board.The Murray Valley state events are starting next week, with the 60 and Over singles on Thursday November 11 at Swan Hill and the state pairs on Sunday November 14 also at Swan Hill.

Entries for these events close on Monday November 8 at 12pm.

The 60 and Over pairs on Thursday November 18 entries close on Monday November 15 at 12pm.

LAKE BOGA

LAKE Boga Bowls club had a great day for the Melbourne Cup, with a barbecue lunch, lots of fun, and some people even had some good winnings.

Best Dressed Lady of the day went to Lyn Maher, with Best Dressed Man of the day being Les Grey.

Best Decorated Hat went to Pat Barr and Ken Hamill.

Liz Hartland won the lucky door prize.

Don’t forget that our Wednesday Social Bowls is now on in the mornings, names in by 9am to start play at 9.30am everyone is most welcome.

On duty is Max Lord.

Our Thursday night social bowls starts on November 4 at 7.30pm, come along and have a game, phone Nola on 0427 372 484.

Lake Boga Bowls opening day triples is November 19, and that Friday evening the Twilight Meet commences at 6pm.

Everyone is welcome, with names to Rod 0447 382 007 or Ken 0408 591 256 before 12pm.

$45 per team or $15 per player, and a single entry includes lunch.

SWAN HILL

OUR popular Friday Frolic is on today with names in by 2.30pm for a 3pm start.

Everyone must be looking forward to the pennant starting tomorrow – Saturday and Tuesday teams are on the board at the clubhouse, with Divisions 1 and 2 playing at Murray Downs, and Division 3 at home.

There will be a BBQ at our club after the pennant tomorrow with everyone is welcome to attend.
