RACECOURSE

Well done to Jim Wilcox on winning a free membership to the club for the next 12 months. He was present at our club casserole dinner last week to accept his membership.

On Sunday, we played Jack Attack bowls in ordinary weather conditions. The winners, with two wins and +31 shots, being Marg Smith, Noel Hender and Norm Smith. The runners-up, also with two wins but only +7 shots, were Helen Frame, Jim Wilcox and Mick Holyoake.

Wednesday’s jackpot bowls was played in beautiful conditions, with D J Weaver, Kaye Roberts and Noel Delmenico (Murray Downs) topping the list with two wins and +17 shots. Runners-up, with one win and +8 shots, were Neville Smith, Faye Devereux and Kevin Saville.

Coming up on Sunday, August 7th we have our Auto Barn Triples tournament. Names are to be in by 11am for 12.30pm start, with the Ash Roberts’ Homes Mixed Triples to follow on August 21.

SWAN HILL

Social Bowlers on Wednesday enjoyed a touch of spring sunshine, making it a pleasant afternoon. Winners for the day were Graeme Clark and Russell Fields, while the previous winners were Alan Marshman and Betty Hill on Wednesday, July 27.

The Jackpot is on the rise again, climbing up into three figures. This can be won at either Wednesday Social Bowls or Friday Frolics, with Wednesday’s commencing at 1pm and Fridays at 3pm. Please enter your names half an hour prior to play, while social interaction with bowlers can be enjoyed in the clubhouse after matches.

Swan Hill Bowls Club’s Opening Day Tournament will be an any combination triples and will be on Sunday, August 28, starting at 12.30pm. Teams and single entries both accepted, please contact Bill King on 0428 324 083 or Swan Hill Bowls Club on 5032 1772. There is also a sheet on the notice board in the clubhouse if you wish to enter in person.

Also, a reminder that memberships for Season 2022-23 are now due and may be paid at the bar.

LAKE BOGA

On Saturday, July 30, the Lake Boga Bowls Club had 48 players for Jackpot bowls, with the winners being Helen Frame, Mal Martin and Ken O’Bree – Runners-up were Max Renney, Joe Suppupo and Graham Clark. The Lucky draw winners were Helen Jobling, Peter Snell, Grant Davies, Richard Vandenberg and Peter Philp, while the winner for the Last Man Standing was Max Parsons. There were no winners for the Jackpot, so next week it will be worth $288.

Winners for social bowls on Wednesday, August 3 were Jeannie Leach, Vicky O’Bree, Georgie Julius and Terry Haw, with the runners-up being Bill King, Amber Moynihan and Alex Jobling.

We celebrated with players that have a birthday in August, especially two people who celebrated their day of birth with all the horses on August 1 in Lyn Maher and Greg Clifford. Others to celebrate their birthdays in August were Jill Pye, Grant Davies, Richard Bruton, Max Parsons, Bev Lord and Ted Hyland.

Jackpot Bowls will be on Saturday, August 6 and social bowls will be on Wednesday, August 10. Everyone is welcome and names are to be in by 12.30pm, with play to start at 1pm.
