SWAN HILL

LAST Saturday’s pennant results saw Division 1 defeat Nyah District on Nyah’s greens, winning two of the three rinks.

Division 2 only managed a one rink win against a strong Murray Downs side and were unable to take home the points, while Division 3 put up a brave front facing off against Murray Downs 4, after coming up from Division 4 halfway through the first round.

This Saturday, all three Swan Hill teams play at home – with our bowlers, along with many in the district, hoping the rain stays away.

Tuesday Midweek pennant this week saw Swan Hill Division 2 scrape home for a one-shot win overall against Murray Downs 5, with one rink up and 1 rink down.

Division 1 visited Racecourse 1, sharing a 1 rink win each, with Racecourse taking out the overall win.

Wednesday’s social bowls winners were regular attendees Graeme Clark, Kessada Smith and Fred Burge.

Rain is again forecast for Friday, but if the weather stays fine, Friday Frolic will be on at again at 3pm.

Happy hour and raffles will be on from 4pm regardless of the weather. All are welcome to attend bowls and social activities or just enjoy the friendly atmosphere socialising.

This Sunday, the state singles are being played at our club, so come along and enjoy some good bowling.

Lunches will be available and will include salad rolls, sandwiches and sweets. Please order on arrival.

President Brian and all Swan Hill bowlers extend their sympathies to the Hawkins families at the recent loss of Rex Hawkins, who was a past club member, club champion and very competitive bowler.

It is worth noting that Rex created the design for our Swan Hill Bowls shirts, depicting the Swan Hill bridge and swans.

Tomorrow, Tooleybuc will play Murray Downs 4 at home.

After a lot of hard work and commitment by many, the Tooleybuc greens are now open for practice and pennant and players are looking forward to playing at home.
