RACECOURSE

ON August 31, the club held a fundraising morning tea for Daffodil Day, with an excellent attendance of 103 enjoying a great morning tea provided by Any Occasion Katering.

Raffles, donations and entry fees raised a huge amount of $2440 for the local cancer group, which included $353 from Wrong Bias bowls throughout the year – many thanks to Keiran Foott for rattling the tin.

Jackpot bowls on August 30 was well attended, with 40 players participating.

The winners, with two wins and 29 shots up, were Arthur Threadgold and Ernie Russell, while the runners-up, with one win and 17 shots up, were Graeme Bennett, Kaye Roberts and Simon Blanthorn.

Forty-six players then participated on September 6, which was a very good result.

The winners, in a close competition, were Graeme Bennett, Clive Power and Marg Smith, with two wins and +11 shots, while the runners-up, with one win and +4 shots, were Jim Wilcox, Graeme Clark and Max Renney, with the jackpot not going off.

On Sunday, September 12, we have our skins triples tournament with 12 games of two ends and excellent prizemoney.

The club has a bowls practice match against Kerang on Sunday, September 17 and everyone is encouraged to put their name on the board to play, with a bus to leave the club at 11am, with $10 the cost for the bus.

On Wednesday, September 27, the club will present its Marraboor Pharmacy Mixed Fours, ladies must skip in this event.

The Muston Memorial Day will be held on Saturday, September 30 and is a fundraising day to commemorate Rob Muston, with all proceeds to go to the Cancer Foundation.

A barbecue lunch will be available, with a gold coin donation, with the day to start at 9.30am and be finished before the footy starts.

The annual general meeting of the Racecourse Bowls Club will be held on Tuesday, October 3 at 7pm.

It is an important meeting as we elect the board to run the club for the next 12 months.

We also have to decide on whether the club wants to go ahead with the synthetic bowling green on the B green.

All agenda items are to be given to Rob Hayes.

SWAN Hill bowlers were well represented at both Lake Boga and Murray Downs opening days last weekend, with Brian Richardson, Vic Plumridge and Lynda and Bill King taking out the win at Lake Boga.

Today is Friday Frolic for those who are prepared to challenge the cooler, windy conditions, with all welcome, but please make sure you arrive early for a 3pm start.
