SWAN HILL

THE Carnival is about to begin, with the Swan Hill Bowls Club prepared for an influx of bowlers for their 59th annual Autumn/May Carnival, which begins at 12pm this Saturday, May 3.

Mayor Stuart King will open the eight day event, with the men’s and ladies fours event to be the order of the day.

Entries will close at 2pm on Friday, enabling the draw to be done and displayed, with entries to Bill King on 0428 324 083 or by calling the bowls club if you still wish to enter.

Programs are also available, with event details for every day of the event, through to Saturday, May 10.

Sunday’s competition will be a mixed fours event, requiring at least one lady in a team, with a 12pm start time.

Monday will see two fills, with a 9am ladies pairs event to be followed by the men’s pairs at 1pm.

Entries for each event closes at 2pm the day prior, with the weather looking promising for the coming week and ideal for bowling.

Light lunches will be available for purchase on Monday, Thursday and Friday, with these three days being two fill days.

Friday Frolic will be on today and there is sure to be some visitors that have arrived early for the carnival, with everyone anxious to have some practice on our greens.

Make sure you have your name in by 2.30pm and be ready for a 3pm start, with a $5 entry fee for the 10 end event.

Everyone is welcome to join in and socialise in the clubhouse for happy hour drinks from Vic at the bar, a hot snack and to try your luck in Mick’s raffles and is also a chance to renew friendships with bowling visitors.

To our Swan Hill Bowls Club members, if you can help in any way during the carnival, please make yourself available.

Also, this is advance notice that the Swan Hill Bowls Club will hold our Annual General Meeting on Thursday, June 5, at 1pm.
