SWAN HILL

The Swan Hill Bowls Clubs 59th May/Autumn Carnival came to an end last Saturday, with bowlers from far and wide, along with local bowlers, enjoying competitive and friendly bowling in Swan Hill’s glorious autumn weather.

Thursday, May 8

Ladies Triples

Winners – C. Rowarth (Ballarat), K. Jenkins (Murray Downs), S. Meehan (Swan Hill).

Runners up – D. Ashton, H.G arnham (Korumburra), H. Frame (Racecourse).

Third place – L. Liston, K. Geddes (Ballan), B. Bibby (Warrnambool).

Men’s triples

Winners – G. McIntosh, N. Smith, R. Wolfe (Racecourse).

Runners up – V. Plumridge, O. Lewis, W. Meyer (Swan Hill).

Friday, May 9

The Carnival ended on a very happy note, with all bowlers full of praise for the Swan Hill Bowls Club from every aspect, with a most enjoyable time had by all.

Sincere thanks to all who volunteered their time towards making the event a huge success.

Please note, Friday Frolic is back on the agenda this Friday in its usual time slot of 3pm.

Please make sure you have your name in by 2.30pm to be in the draw, with all welcome to join us for bowls, which will be followed by social activities in the clubhouse after the game.

The Swan Hill Bowls Clubs Annual General Meeting is to be held Thursday, June 5 at 1pm, with nomination forms in the display pockets at the clubhouse.

When filled out, please put them in the ballot box, with only fully paid members able to nominate and be nominated, as well as having voting rights.


RACECOURSE

IN perfect weather, we held our jackpot bowls on Tuesday afternoon, with the winners Bryan Bice and Peter Holland with two wins and a score of +23.

The runner’s up, with +13 shots, were Dawn Doran, Arthur Threadgold and Michael Grace, while the jackpot failed to go off.

Jackpot bowls will be on again next Tuesday as we have some of the State 60-and-over ladies singles playing at our club on Wednesday.

On Friday, May 23 at 5.30pm, we have a club meeting to select the match committee members, Saturday pennant selectors and the social committee.

If you are interested in any of these positions, please fill out the nomination form that is on the board or put your name forward at the meeting.

On Sunday, May 25, our club will be holding our first Tasco any combination triples event, starting at 12.30pm.

Great news, the Nyah District Bowls Clubs lights are now in working order, which means our social bowls and barbecue for Friday are back up and running from 5pm.
