RACECOURSE

CONGRATULATIONS to Graeme Bennett and Norm Smith on getting to the last eight out of 144 pairs in the 60 & Over State Pairs played at Murray Downs and Barham bowling clubs last week.

Racecourse Bowls Club held our Tasco Triples last Sunday, with 20 teams taking part.

The only three game winners for the day were Rex Howard, Damien Caldwell (Murray Downs) and Adrian Kelly (Nyah) with 76 points.

The runners-up, with two wins and 65 points, was Brian Quaife, Graeme Clarke (Swan Hill) and Doug Fisher (Murray Downs) while in third place was Bryan Bice, Keith and Bev Button (Kyabram) with 59 points.

The winners of jackpot bowls on Wednesday was Norm Smith, Gerard Maher and Max Renney with two wins and +18 shots, while runners-up, with one win and +9 shots, was Ian Lockhart and Ken Duthie.

The jackpot went off for the second week in a row, with Trevor Wiseman and Peter Holland having the lucky score of -6.

Don’t forget we have our monthly double members draw and raffles as well as Sharon’s tea.

The club will be closed next Friday, Saturday and Sunday because of the June Racing Carnival.

SWAN HILL

FRIDAY Frolic will be back on the agenda at the Swan Hill Bowls Club today.

All are welcome to attend regardless of your bowling skills, with Friday Frolic being a social afternoon for all that wish to give bowls ago.

Be sure to have your names entered by 2.30pm and be ready for a 3pm start, with bowls available at the club if you are new to the game.

It’s $5 to enter, with every winner receiving a prize, and all that bowl having the chance of winning the jackpot.

Following the game, you can join us in the clubhouse for happy hour drinks or a hot cuppa and light refreshments, while there is always the chance of striking it lucky by buying a winning raffle ticket.

On Friday, June 13, the Swan Hill Bowls Club will hold the first of our winter mini tournaments in place of Friday Frolic, with a start time of 3pm, with names to be in by 2pm to enable a computer draw to be done.

For this event, you may enter a team of triples for $30 per team, or single entries will be accepted at $10 per player, with two games of 10 ends to be played.

Prize money will consist of $40 per player for first place and $20 each for second, with social activities still taking place in the clubhouse following the game.

Some say Friday the 13th is unlucky; others believe it to be lucky; so take your pick.

A reminder to members that the AGM is scheduled to be held on Thursday, June 5 at 1pm in the clubhouse, with nominations for positions closed at 6pm last night.

The attendance of members would be appreciated as this is an opportunity to keep up to date with what is happening within your club and plans for season 2025-26.

Only full members are entitled to vote.
