RACECOURSE

ON Sunday, and under the threat of rain, we held our Ash Roberts Homes Triples event, with the weather turning out to be fine.

The winners, with three wins and 77 points, were Glenn McIntosh, Sheena Coe and Zack Oliver.

The runners up, with three wins and 75 points were Graeme Bennett, Richie Doran and Robyn Roberts while in third place, with 54 points, were Ron Wolfe, Jeanie Leach and Kieran Foote.

Wednesday’s jackpot bowls was won by Trevor Wiseman, Rod Wardle and Kevin Vivian with a huge score of two wins and plus 30 shots, while the runners up with plus seven shots were Ron Wolfe, Ernie Russell and Ocker Roberts.

The club’s next tournament will be our Skins event on Sunday, September 7.

Our club will be holding our AGM to select our new board for the coming year, with all positions up for election.

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 2, at 5pm and we require a president, secretary, treasurer and five board members, with forms on the notice board if you wish to put your hand up.

Friday, August 29, is our next double members draw with raffles and Sharon’s tea, then everyone can enjoy the fun of DJ Bingo afterwards.

Please put your name on the board by Wednesday.


SWAN HILL

THIS is a final call to all bowlers planning on entering our clubs RSL Diggers Day tournament, which is combined with our official opening day at the Swan Hill Bowls Club for season 2025-26.

Entries close at 9am on the day of play, this Sunday, August 24, by phoning Bill King on 0428 324 083 or the Swan Hill Bowls Club on 5032 1772.

Alternatively, you can place your teams or single entries on the sheet on the notice board in the clubhouse.

Club uniforms are to be worn, with the format for the day being any combination, two bowl triples.

Entry is $45 per team or $15 for a single entry and includes afternoon tea.

There is excellent prize money on offer, with $1000 spread across first, second and third prizes and money back for the best winning team in each game.

The day will commence with an RSL stand to at 12.15pm, as the Swan Hill RSL are the proud sponsors of this tournament, with the raffle proceeds for the day will be donated to RSL Legacy.

Members please supply a plate of afternoon tea.

Friday Frolic will be on this afternoon and is a great chance to get some practice on our greens in preparation for Sunday.

Be sure to enter by 2.30pm for a 3.00pm start, with both regular and new bowlers most welcome.

The jackpot is now more than $200 and we are waiting for a lucky team to take it home.

Happy hour drinks, snacks and raffle prizes are also there to be won following the game while socializing in the clubrooms, with the weather forecast for the weekend looking quite promising.

Swan Hill Bowls Club members are reminded that there is a general meeting on Tuesday, August 26, at 1.00pm to keep members informed and up to date on the happenings at your club. Club membership fees are also due to be paid for the upcoming 2025-26 season to ensure that you are a registered bowler.

LAKE BOGA

CONGRATULATIONS to Leigh Kingsbury, Kessa Smith and Glenn McIntosh on winning jackpot bowls last Saturday. The runners up were Ray Leach, Marg Smith and Mick Tempini while resting touches went to Kelly Neil.

The jackpot was claimed by Leigh Kingsbury, Kessa Smith and Glenn McIntosh, which stood at $126, with the trio each taking home $42 plus the $20 for winning the days game.

Next week, the jackpot reverts to $90.

Club stalwart Max Parsons turned 95 this week and we all wish you happy birthday Max.

We hope we are still playing bowls at 95 and playing as competitive as Max is.

A reminder that our opening day tournament is on the Saturday, September 6, with single and team entries welcome.

The format is any combination fours, with a 12.30pm start time and $600 in prizemoney.
