IT was a quieter day at social bowls last Thursday, due to the midweek pennant being played on Wednesday.
The winning team was Greg Robertson, David Timmins and Ray Lambert and the duty members next week are John Alderuccio and Neil Brown.
Congratulations to “Buck” Lehmann, who is the men’s Murray Valley Singles Champion, after defeating “Pud” Stephens from Moulamein in the final on Sunday, well done “Buck”.
The next social function will be a Miss Murray Downs Pageant Fashion Parade, which will be held on the next Saturday, November 25, with a barbecue, as well as raffles and prizes to be won and karaoke.
The men’s and women’s club matches will be held shortly, please watch the notice board to ascertain when matches are due to be played.

NIGHT bowls’ winners, held in perfect conditions, was team 2xJ+D, which comprises Olly and David Jonkers and Van Donaczy, having won all their matches and finished on +11.
Congratulations to Lyndal Taylor, who won her first State Singles title last Sunday, beating Tooleybuc’s Danielle Adams in a marathon match.
Fay Devereux won her first club championship title at Racecourse, to add to her 13 previous titles at the Nyah District Bowls Club.
Fay beat Kylie Gardner in another marathon encounter, with the match finishing on 25/22.
Our next tournament will be the Country Care Hearing Any Combination Triples, which will be be held on Sunday, November 26, starting at 12.30pm.
Our Christmas party is on Saturday, December 9, with a sheet on the board for booking and catering.

SWAN HILL
FRIDAY Frolic will be played in very pleasant conditions today, with a forecast of 27 degrees.
It doesn’t have to be Black Friday to get a bargain at the Swan Hill Bowls Club, where a game of bowls costs just $5, and every winner receives a prize and the chance of winning the jackpot.
Enter by 2.30pm, ready to start at 3pm, new bowlers wishing to join in and give bowls a try more than welcome, as well as visitors, with bowls are available at the club.
After the game, come in and enjoy our happy hour drinks, a light snack and try your luck in Mick’s raffles.
Last Saturday was not a good afternoon for our pennant teams, Lake Boga 1 on their home green proved too good on all three rinks for our Division 1 side.
The ones will meet the top of the ladder Racecourse 1 at Racecourse tomorrow and will be looking to improve their game.
Division 2 struggled against Murray Downs 3, Alan Marshman’s rink pulling off a draw for the second week in a row.
Will Alan go for the trifecta tomorrow or be looking for the win, when the twos again cross the bridge to play Murray Downs 2?
Swan Hill’s Division 4 side had a tight game with Manangatang at Swan Hill, with the rink of E.Grey, D.McBeath and H.Smith winning by two shots, however, Manangatang were seven up on the other rink, Swan Hill falling short by five shots.
All the best to the fours at Lake Boga tomorrow, as they continue to gain experience.
A crowd of spectators gathered at the Swan Hill Bowls Club last Sunday to witness the finals of the State Singles for the Murray Valley Division.
The women provided the spectacle of the day, Racecourse’s Lyndal Taylor just edging out Tooleybuc’s Danielle Adams after a nail-biting 31 ends of bowls.
Murray Downs’ “Buck” Lehmann defeated Moulamein’s Martin Stephens in the men’s final.
Some dates for your calendar are the Swan Hill Bowls Club’s Christmas tea on Saturday, December 16 after bowls, all three teams set to play at home that day.
The Swan Hill Bowls tournaments to make note of are the president’s evening on Monday, December 18 and our new year’s night on Monday, January 1, 2024.
Both of these tournaments will be played under any-combination triples conditions and will commence with a sausage sizzle at 4.30pm, with bowls to follow.

LAKE BOGA
NINETY bowlers competed in our annual Lakeside Wonders skins day last Sunday, the game consisting of three bowlers of three bowls each, playing 15 two-end games, which means each bowler rolled 90 bowls for the day.
The winning team came from Marong, while in second place was a team of locals consisting of Carol and Neville Smith from Racecourse and Ray Leach from Lake Boga, while a team from Inglewood finished in third place.
Division 1 last week came home with a three-rink win of 32 shots over Swan Hill, Ken Hamill’s rink up by two shots, Danny Kelly’s rink up by 12 and Peter Philp’s rink up by 18.
Division 3 were beaten by 18 shots against Racecourse, Robin Jolley’s team of Keith Anderson, Noel Hender and Marie O’Meara the only winning rink for Lake Boga.
Our Division 4, team 3 lost to Racecourse by five shots, with John Pye’s team of Jenny Robertson, Laurel Dewhurst and Jill Pye our only winning rink, with a six shot win.
Our midweek pennant Division 1 side were beaten by a very strong Murray Downs outfit by 35 shots.
Our Division 2 team were beaten by 29 shots to Murray Downs, with our winning team for the day consisting of Laurel Dewhurst, Ray Leach, Peter Snell and Jeanie Leach, won who by one shot.
Social bowls this week was won by Greg Clifford, Max Parsons and Grant Davies, with plus 15, while the runners-up were Brian Fowls and Leigh Kingsbury.
A reminder that next week our social bowls competition will start at the summer time, with names in by 9am for a 9.30am start.
Our barefoot bowls last week was played in perfect summer evening conditions, the winners being Basil McDonald and Leigh Kingsbury, while the mixed mob were runners-up.

FIRSTLY, congratulations to Dannielle Adams on finishing as runner-up in the Murray Valley Ladies State Singles final, and to Lyndal Taylor from Racecourse, who won the event, with the final score 25-21.
In such a close game for a final, it was great to see both ladies playing some great bowls.
Last Saturday, Tooleybuc played against Murray Downs 4 at Murray Downs, with P.Gardner’s team being the only winning rink for Tooleybuc, as Murray Downs won 81 shots to 68.
Tomorrow will see Tooleybuc will play at home against Moulamein 2.
Midweek pennant was played on Tuesday at Tooleybuc against Murray Downs 4, with both rinks proving very close, but in the end, Tooleybuc lost one rink by five and the other rink won by two, with Tooleybuc narrowly going down by three shots overall.
Next Tuesday, Tooleybuc will play Manangatang 1 at Manangatang.
The Murray Valley State Pairs will be played on Sunday at Murray Downs, good luck to our ladies Dannielle Adams and Tricia Armstrong and our men Aaron Adams and Zack Oliver, who will be playing in this event.

ON Sunday, the State Singles saw Dannielle Adams (Tooleybuc) and Lyndal Taylor (Racecourse) face off in the grand final, with Taylor securing her first title 25-21 after a mammoth 30 ends.
In the men’s semi-finals, Murray Downs’ Buck Lehmann defeated Racecourse’s Norm Smith, and Martin Stephens (Moulamein) was too good for Brian Quaife (Swan Hill).
In the final, Lehmann produced excellent and consistent bowls to outclass Stephens, 25-10.
The women’s and men’s State Pairs will start at 9.30am at Murray Downs this Sunday, with the first-round draw as follows:
