Employers surveyed on accommodation needs

BUSINESSES have been urged to help shape the future of housing in the Swan Hill municipality.

An online survey has been launched to help understand the future accommodation needs of local businesses.

Swan Hill Council director of development and planning Michelle Grainger said the 12-question survey was aimed at gathering insights into housing requirements for employees in the next five years.

“Your participation is vital in helping us gauge the level of demand to help us plan effectively for the future,” Ms Grainger said.

“If you run a business that is currently being impacted by housing shortages, we would particularly like to hear from you.

“Businesses play a central role in our region’s growth and prosperity, and by sharing your insights you will directly contribute to shaping housing strategies that support your workforce and ensure our community remains a vibrant and attractive place to live and work.”

Ms Grainger said the initiative highlighted an ongoing commitment to addressing the current housing shortages.

“Responses will be instrumental in developing housing solutions that meet the needs of our local economy and workforce,” she said.

The Housing Action: Greater Swan Hill initiative was launched following a housing summit in November last year.

The goal is to collaboratively increase the housing supply, aiming for 500 new homes by 2030.

Questions include the number of staff expected to be employed who will need to live within the municipality in the next five years, the type of housing and location required, and the length of time for which the housing will be needed.

The survey will be open until noon next Monday, September 9, at www.letstalk.swanhill.vic.gov.au
