IT may have been raining and cold outside on Monday, but that didn’t dampen the spirits of nearly 70 attendees at the Lake Boga Community’s Biggest Morning Tea, at the Lake Boga Bowls Club.
It was a full house as members of the community came together to share a cuppa and some morning tea, while raising funds for the Cancer Council.
McGrath Breast Care Nurse Leanne Bibby was a guest speaker, along with a Community Health Nurse from Swan Hill District Hospital (SHDH).
She spoke to the crowd about the importance of making sure that you are keeping up to date with your cancer checks and how technology has improved logistical challenges when it comes to consultations.
Also speaking at the event was Luke Phealan who is a Men’s and Ladies Exercise Physiologist at SHDH.
Mr Phelan spoke about the importance of exercise in relation to the treatment of cancer, and how beneficial it can be for both pre and post treatment.
In total, $980 was raised for the Cancer Council, with a raffle as well as the auction of two sponge cakes contributing to the amount raised.
Event organiser Marie Dillon said the event was a massive success with a “beautiful turnout” for their first morning tea held since the COVID outbreak.
