Neighbourhood House joy at Christmas jingles

IT was an electric atmosphere at the Swan Hill Neighbourhood House Christmas concert as performers from Swan Hill Singers, Echuca Discoveries and Swan Hill Primary School belted out some Christmas cheer.

SHNH manager Kate Bishop told The Guardian she was ecstatic with how the concert went.

“It was absolutely wonderful and had a fantastic vibe,” she said. “I just felt like everyone had so much goodwill and was supportive of all, so it was a very successful day.”

While every performance was impressive, there were a couple of highlights.

Echuca Discoveries performed an Australian version of Jingle Bells after the students from SHPS had wowed the large crowd.

“The kids were brilliant with their performance, but I loved how they stayed and got involved with the rest of the concert afterwards,” Ms Bishop said.

“Their teacher said they haven’t been together for very long, but they just sang with such enthusiasm and joy.”

It was the first time SHNH had held a Christmas concert, but after some rave reviews, it could become an annual event.

“We had afternoon tea following the concert and speaking to people, it seems they all loved it – I heard lots of positive comments,” Ms Bishop said.

“I think if people enjoyed it, which seems to be the case, I can’t see why we won’t do it again next year.”

A raffle was also held to support the Men’s Shed, which Ms Bishop said received “a lot of support”.

Ms Bishop was highly grateful to everyone who came.

“I have to say a big thank you to the entire crowd and all the performers for making it such a successful and fun day,” she said.
