PEOPLE lined the Lake Boga foreshore on Sunday as the Lake Boga Lion’s Club Splash Down and Rev Up event kicked off.
About 3000 people came out to see the Park and Brag display of classic, modern and one-of-a-kind cars, as well as the planes from the Seaplane Pilots Association.
“We didn’t expect so many people to turn up, it was just magnificent,” Lake Boga Lions Club secretary David Mark said.
“We were very lucky that the weather held off and the storm that came through was well after everybody had left.”
Between 40 and 50 vehicles participated in the Park and Brag, while there 24 were tables for the longest table lakeside lunch, which was to raise money for the safe shelter and family violence initiative, #SayNo2FamilyViolence.
“We were blown away by the generosity of people,” Mr Mark said.
It was also one of the busiest days for the Catalina Flying Boat Museum, which had to bring in more staff to keep up with the influx of people.
The day ended with an aerobatic display by pilot Glenn Graham, flying a Zivko Edge 540.
“People have already been asking if we are going to have it next year,” Mr Mark said.
“It was a very successful day so we will consider that – if we can get a crowd that like every year we will be really happy.”
