Big weekend of events

ARE the kids stuck at home with nothing to do this weekend?

Think again, because the Swan Hill region is hosting a range of exciting events to enjoy.

The Murrabit Country Market provides variety at more than 70 market stalls on the first Saturday of every month between 8.30am and 12.30pm.

From food and plants to homemade wares, the market has plenty of stalls for the entire family to spend their pocket money.

The kids will be thrilled by the children’s activities on offer, which gives Mum and Dad the opportunity to shop around while finally getting a break a week into the school holidays.

Live music will fill the Gonn Avenue location, as Honest Ken plucks away on his acoustic guitar while marketgoers peruse the stalls and enjoy hot-food options.

Swan Hill residents hoping to stay closer to home will find the Swan Hill Market returns on Sunday, with local community groups hitting the grills and offering warm egg-and-bacon rolls while patrons enjoy their shopping.

New managers We Believe in Unicorns have taken over the reins, allowing shoppers the chance to give back to the community while picking up a bargain on crafts and gifts.

For an event with a little more horsepower, head to the Swan Hill Kart Club for the annual Sun Centre Titles race meet.

Entry is free for spectators, who can watch some of the best kart racers in Victoria vie for the orange plate – given to the best racers in the state in the 4SS State Trophy.

Racers will take on an awe-inspiring banked turn named The Thunderdome, which is set to provide some entertaining racing.

Enjoy the racing in the trackside spectator area or take in the spectacle from the warmth of the fully glassed trackside cafe, with a range of hot food on offer.

There’s also a range of entertainment available for the adults, including an array of live music around town.

Local three-piece band Y U Ask? will return to the Swan Hill Club on Friday night, ready to rock the club with their unique brand of classic tunes with a twist.

Ever wondered who’s That Guy? Well find out over two nights of live music entertainment featuring That Guy, first at the Swan Hill RSL on Friday night and at the Federal Hotel on Saturday.
