No ordinary hunt

EASTER celebrations are in full swing this weekend at the Pioneer Settlement with a teddy bear picnic, bear scavenger hunt and Easter egg hunt.

Pioneer Settlement marketing co-ordinator Janelle Earle said this is no ordinary hunt.

“Rather than searching for hidden eggs scattered around the site, the children need to solve clues that take them on a journey through the historical village,” she said.

“Once completed the children can claim a sweet prize, a bag of Easter eggs donated by the Friends of the Pioneer Settlement.”

The Easter egg hunt runs from 9.30am to 4pm on Easter Sunday.

“Families can come down at any time during the day to take part in our famous Easter egg hunt,” Ms Earle said.

“With kids dashing around everywhere, we’ve found this clue-based system to be a great way to keep things fun, safe, and engaging.”

Another of the weekend’s highlights includes the teddy bears’ picnic and a bear scavenger hunt.

“We’ve hidden teddy bears around the site with different coloured ribbons,” Ms Earle said.

“Kids use a photo sheet to find the bears and note the ribbon colours.”

The teddy bear’s picnic and bear scavenger hunt occurs 9.30am to 4.30pm Friday, Saturday and Monday.

The teddies are gathered on the grass outside the Lower Murray Inn.

Entry to the Pioneer Settlement is free for Swan Hill residents, while visiting families can enjoy a 25 per cent discount if accompanied by a local.

General admission prices are $33.50 for adults, $23.50 for children, and $102.50 for families.

“Once you’re in, all the activities are included,” Ms Earle added.

“There’s also horse and vintage car rides, and our wonderful tractor volunteers are here on Easter Sunday.”

Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic or purchase something from the on-site cafe to enjoy outdoors.
