St Mary’s thanks mums and friends

ST Mary’s Primary School welcomed mothers and special guests through the gates on Friday for their annual Mother’s Day celebration.

The morning saw a strong turnout, with parents, grandparents and family friends joining the school community for the occasion.

Principal Kate Quinn said it was one of the most anticipated events on the school calendar.

“It’s always really heartening to see so many mums and special friends coming along,” Ms Quinn said.

“The children are so thrilled to show them around the classrooms, introduce them to their teachers, and share their work.”

Students guided their guests through their learning spaces before enjoying some special time together during recess.

A highlight of the morning was the handmade gifts students presented, along with the traditional cookie treat.

“We always get lots of wonderful feedback about how much these events mean to families,” Ms Quinn said.

“There’s a really positive feeling out on the school grounds.

“It’s a lovely moment.”

The school places a strong emphasis on inclusion, ensuring every child has someone to share the day with.

“If mum can’t come, it might be a nana or a family friend,” Ms Quinn said.

“What’s important is that everyone has someone there, and we make sure of that.”
