THE Manangatang Improvement Group are switching things up for this year's Australia Day celebrations.

Instead of the usual Australia Day breakfast, an event will be held in the evening starting from 5pm at the Manangatang Bowling Club.

Manangatang Improvement Group president Debbie Arentz said she hoped the evening event would have good attendance.

"We hope we can have a well attended and successful event to celebrate our community and our volunteers," Ms Arentz said.

The Citizen of the Year Award which was nominated by community members will be presented at 7pm.

Attendees can help themselves to the sausage sizzle and participate in social bowls.

Entry fee is a gold-coin donation.
