Youth to put on a show

TALENTED young people in the Swan Hill community will next week have the chance to show off their special skills at the Swan Hill Youth Showcase.

Open to ages 12 and 25, the showcase is a new event set to highlight the various talents of young locals.

Libraries manager Camille Cullinan said all local youth were invited to participate in the showcase.

“Whether you are a singer, comedian, dancer, magician or part of a band – even if you have a unique talent that doesn’t fit into any of these categories – we want to see it,” she said.

“Solo acts or groups are both welcome to register. The only requirement is that your act should be between three and five minutes in length.”

As well as being able to show off their skills, participants can also win some awesome prizes.

“The first-place winner will receive a $250 Eftpos card, second place gets a $150 Eftpos card and third place will receive a $50 Eftpos card,” Ms Cullinan said.

Participants will have the opportunity to fine-tune their acts prior to the showcase, with a rehearsal to be held from 3.30pm on the day of the event. Props are welcome to the used, but will need to be approved by the showcase committee beforehand.

“So, what are you waiting for? This is your chance to shine and be rewarded for your amazing talent,” Ms Cullinan said.

The Swan Hill Youth Showcase is set to be held on Friday, June 16 at 7pm. Registrations are now open and close on Thursday, June 15 at 5pm. To register your interest, visit the Swan Hill Library website at forms.swanhill.vic.gov.au/showcase
