Harrington on song at Tooleybuc Country Club Hotel

THE VOICE runner-up Mick Harrington is bringing his Australian Songbook Tour to the Tooleybuc Country Club Hotel for an evening of classic Australian songs on Friday, March 14.

A country boy hailing from East Gippsland, Harrington knows the joy that can be found listening to live music in a country pub.

“The Australian Songbook Tour is just me and my guitar, singing all those classic songs from Australian singers and songwriters in the most iconic Aussie pubs in Victoria,” he said.

“It’s always good to get out and meet new country people; they’re always friendly and good for a chat, to tell you about what’s going on in their community.

“They’re my kind of people.”

Harrington has seen some of the most beautiful places in Victoria on his tour while bringing his show to places that are off the usual tour route.

“I did a shoutout on my social media for people to name the most Aussie pubs around the Victoria and had a huge response,” he said.

“Tooleybuc Country Club Hotel came up time and time again as one of those quintessential Aussie pubs where the people are very relaxed and want to have a good time.

“There’s been a really good response to the show as I’ve travelled, and I can’t wait to bring something a bit different that the area maybe hasn’t had for a while.

“I can’t wait, it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

The event is raising funds for family and domestic violence service Orange Door.

“Helping people that are experiencing or at risk of family and domestic violence is something that is important for all men to be on the record being in support of and doing the work to make it a better place for our families,” Harrington said.

“Country people know how to support a good cause.”

Harrington will perform acoustic covers of Australian classics from the likes of Paul Kelly, Crowded House and Richard Clapton.

While the event is not ticketed, attendees are encouraged to book a table especially if they plan on dining that evening.
