Jab total mounts at new Swan Hill vaccine centre

SWAN Hill’s new vaccine clinic has racked up more than 650 jabs in the fight against COVID-19.

The Commonwealth vaccination clinic moved to Tristar Medical Group Swan Hill in Campbell Street from its High Street location, opening on September 9.

SHDH Health Information Service’s Meg Garvie told The Guardian in the first week between 125 and 130 vaccinations were administered each day.

She said additional vaccinations were given to transport drivers.

Ms Garvie said the response from the about the relocation had been positive.

“Community members accessing a COVID-19 vaccination seemed excited upon arrival and many noted that they were happy about the service that was being provided.

“We would like to thank the community for the ongoing support and appreciation of our staff and congratulate them on continuing to keep our community safe.”

Before the move, SHDH was administering up to 120 vaccinations per day at its High Street clinic.

In coming weeks this could increase to 160.

As of September 19, 82 per cent of eligible people had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in the Swan Hill local government area, and 47.7 per cent their second.
