COVID-19 cases linked to Gannawarra Shire work site

CONTACT tracers are investigating the source of an outbreak of positive COVID-19 cases linked to a construction site at Cannie in Gannawarra Shire.

The Victorian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) told The Guardian the first positive case at the worksite was identified on September 15.

By last Friday there were four cases among construction workers linked to the outbreak and more than 40 primary close contacts were isolating for 14 days, a DHHS spokesperson said.

Contract tracers were investigating the source of this outbreak and possible links to other cases.

According to media reports, one of the construction workers has been recorded as a COVID-19 case in Bass Coast Shire.

DHHS also manages exposure sites that are not published online, particularly if these sites represent very low-risk exposures, or if sites have comprehensive record-keeping and contact tracing measures in place and are not attended by the public.

DHHS provides public updates on new cases each morning daily on Twitter (@VicGovDH) and further case details at daily media conferences.
