Swan Hill gets high care quality accreditation

THE high level of care given to patients at Swan Hill District Health has helped its accreditation for National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) standards.

The onsite survey was conducted over three days in June, authorised by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS), Australia’s leading health care accreditation agency.

The accreditation certificate was officially presented to Swan Hill District Health late in August.

“It is important to achieve accreditation as it confirms how a health care organisation provides safety and quality care to patients,” chief executive Peter Abraham said.

“I would like to acknowledge and thank all staff involved, as well consumers, for their contribution, but also for their support and commitment to quality service through continued improvement.

“We are aware that now more than ever there is a demand by both staff and consumers for high standards of health care provision and we are pleased that Swan Hill District Health has been recognised for meeting this expectation – it is a credit to all.”

Mr Abraham said achieving NSQHS standards accreditation was a strong recognition of “everyone’s input and dedication to quality and safe health care”.

The accreditation process is used by health care organisations to continuously improve the quality of care they deliver to the community, and organisations must demonstrate over a three-year period how they had improved their services.
