LAST month I badly cut my hand below my thumb.
The wound was about 35mm long and very deep, causing extensive bleeding.
My wife drove me to the accident and emergency department at Swan Hill and District Health, filling a couple of hand towels with blood on our way.
From the moment we entered the hospital I was treated with excellent care, from the beginning until I was discharged after my wound was cleansed and stitched up.
The nurses and doctors (including a student doctor) treated me very professionally and with patience and respect.
I cannot speak highly enough of the A&E staff at all levels but to say that the Swan Hill region and part of southern NSW is so lucky to have such a great hospital and dedicated staff.
The buildings need replacing, as is currently in progress, and I hope that all the planned stages are eventually funded and completed.
This district needs a modern hospital to serve its needs but, more importantly, all the hard-working staff, including those in the primary health clinic, thoroughly deserve it.
Once again thanks to all the A&E staff for the treatment so well done.
