Remain their choice

AT Farmers for Climate Action, we strongly believe Australia’s prime farmland should be protected, valued, and used productively.

That’s why increasing numbers of farmers are choosing to host clean energy projects like solar and wind on their land. These projects make farming more resilient and financially sustainable.

Hosting renewable energy gives farmers a drought-proof second income while continuing to farm the land.

Solar farms typically pay around $1500 per hectare per year—and farmers continue to graze sheep beneath the panels.

Wind turbines can deliver around $40,000 per turbine annually, and the land around them remains in use for cropping or running livestock.

Importantly, participation is entirely voluntary.

Farmers can choose whether or not to host energy projects, based on what works best for their land, business and future.

That’s as it should be – because what a farmer does with their land should always remain their choice.
