Tuesday, February 8

· Independent candidate for Mallee Sophie Baldwin launched her campaign to unseat the Nationals at the May federal election. Ms Baldwin said people were “sick of party politics” and the electorate needed better infrastructure to support its contribution to the economy.

· Four teenagers were awarded $5000 scholarships from the Freemasons Foundation of Victoria to help with their university studies. They were Matthew Gardiner, Mena Keighran and Hannah Storer, of Swan Hill, and Allen Veloso, of Kerang.

Friday, February 11

· Country Week Tennis became the first major event in Swan Hill since the COVID-19 pandemic struck and was set to pump an estimated $1.5 million into the local economy. All motels and rentals were booked out by more than 1000 tennis players from across Victoria.

· Performance data showed a decline in ambulance response times to Code 1 patients across the Swan Hill local government area. They reached 64.9 per cent within 15 minutes, but did better in the urban area, reaching 84.8 per cent of Code 1 patients within the same timeframe.
