Glare to end six year hiatus

THE Sonic Speedway fires into action this weekend, with racing to return after last month’s washout.

With a full card of racing, the boys from Bairnsdale in the Divi 2 Hot Rods will be the highlight of the night, along with the return of local driver Rhiannon Glare.

Glare will drive brother Hayden’s car, with Saturday night being the first time in more than six years since she last took to the racetrack.

Glare won’t be the only local driver in action, with Josh Campbell, Troy Higgins, Tom Millar, Leighton Warburton and Tyson Gleeson all taking to the track, along with the newly crowned VSC ladies open state title winner Zoey Salau.

It will be Salau’s first time back on her home track following her victory in the Victorian ladies state titles at Wangaratta in April, with the title holder set to be one of the drivers to watch across the six categories.

Also in action will be long time street stock drivers Oggie Ahearn, Jack Jordan and Shane Roycroft, with the trio among the best in their class which will ensure some close racing.

A vintage class demonstrating their style of racing will also be among those racing to the chequered flag, along with the sports sedans class, standards and plenty of fast and keen juniors. Gates open at 3pm, with racing starting at 6pm.
