Go with the flow

Go with the flow

We had to wait a while on the Murrumbidgee system but we have now equalled our Crow Eating mates on 100 per cent of the water that we own.

They would normally not be happy about that. Our mates on the NSW Murray system have 110 per cent of what they own. Normally, our Crow Eating mates would be really annoyed about that.

The way the Murray River is flowing into our Crow Eating mates’ state. They would be hoping that more of us grew rice and cotton to use some of that water.

Our Crow Eating mates always wanted our river system to go back to natural flows. Here it is fellers, enjoy.

Worthy of a badge

We played our mates from Nyah last Saturday in Division 1 at home. It does not happen very often in pennant bowls, especially in Division 1.

Dennis and his team managed the top score of 8 in an end. Well done to Dennis and his team. I think he lost the next end as he was too busy on the phone organising the badges that they get for this effort.

Our Division 4 team was able to hold on to top spot with a win last week. Our Division 1 side is snapping at the heels of the 4 to get a spot in the finals.

We have Division 1 at home again this week and our Division 4 team takes the long drive to Manangatang. They have not got to play their mates from Manangatang yet this year due to circumstances beyond their control.

We also have a bowls tournament on this Sunday at Moulamein. If you would like to watch some good bowls or be in it, ring Kerryn on 0407 800 111 for more details. We have pretty well filled the rinks but there is always someone that pulls out.

Dragonfly boom

We all know that there are a gazillion carp breeding. There are also plenty of ducks to eat next year’s rice. The frogs are there in their numbers to feed the snakes next year. One thing I did notice is the number of dragonflies.

I always thought these things just flew around eating flowers or pollen or something like that. I have just found out that they are an apex predator that feeds on other insects.

According to my Google Kids, they have a 95 per cent kill rate of anything they decide to eat. Even scientists are studying to see how they do it. I am sure if they can figure it out it would only be used for peaceful purpose. Never in a war.

This could explain why there are fewer mossies around than I expected. If we could only get them to eat blowflies, it would make running sheep much easier.

Australia Day

Come and celebrate Australia Day in Moulamein at our Triangle, unless the weather forecast changes. This is a free event organised by our Murray River Council and catered for by our Moulamein RFS. Hope to see you there.

Celebrate our town

This big event will be happening in February. Stay tuned for more details. Our Murray River Council has pitched in 15 grand to hold an event, along with a few hundred dollars from our West Australian mates.

I think they have bought the photo booth for the night. We know it is going to be a great night.
