Training cars wanted

Rivers to keep dropping

WITH our Hume Weir at 25 per cent and the Darling River running at 25,000 megs at Menindee. My crow eating mates will have plenty of water to run out to sea in the next couple of months so they will not need our water the keep their saltwater inlets full of fresh water. Our rivers will be shut down to minimal flows as they should be. We need to save as much water up in our weirs as we can. Dartmouth Dam is at 73 per cent but we can only get 10,000 megs a day out of it without flooding the farmers out on the Mitta Mitta River.

Our two weirs on our Murrumbidgee River are just below 40 per cent. For those that are in charge, keep it up there, fellas. We may need as much water as we can hold if it does not rain. Check your boats and get them out of the river if you can.

Road crash rescue training

JUST another reminder that we need more cars to practice on. Any condition; straight, bent, burnt. We can make use of them. Barham Road Crash Rescue also need cars to practice on. We can come out and pick them up to make it easier. For Moulamein pick up ring Gary on 0427823572 or Alan on 0422907090 or myself for drop off, not pick up. We have two days training and refresher training for those that are interested this Saturday and Sunday at Moulamein. If you have been thinking about joining this great group or you just want to see what we do. We should either be at our shed, or behind the Moulamein Cemetery all weekend. Everyone is welcome to come and have a look to see if you want to join, or just have a look.

Footy-netball away to Wandella

THE Mighty Swans had a rough day at the office last weekend. We did not score a win all day. While we still have footy-netball in our town, we are all winners but the future of our league is still very uncertain. While our league is still going, we are still going. What happens after that is yet to be seen.

On home matches our canteen is quite often short of helpers. Please do your duty or swap with someone. If you are not good at numbers and do not want to serve. When I see that they are busy. There is a full-time job just putting chips into buckets and restocking the fridge. If you have a few minutes to spare, stick your head in and ask Judy if she needs a hand. It would be much appreciated and we will keep our name as the best canteen in our league.

Two per cent more water

US Murrumbidgee pumpers have just gained another two per cent of what we own. I had given up on getting any more allocation this year. Thank you to those in charge. It now takes us to 41 per cent. This latest two per cent will allow us to water another couple of bays for sheep feed. Keep it coming. I can keep watering a couple of bays any time we get some more water. My crow eating mates are still stuck on their 100 per cent they got at the start of the year. They will not be happy that we are up to 41 per cent of what we own.

Sculpture competition

JUST another reminder that our Moulamein Galleries bi-annual Sculpture Competition is coming up quicker than you know – Saturday, June 7. This great event will be happening on the King’s Birthday weekend. There is over $2000 up for grabs.

There are two sections; the large section which must be able to be carried by two people, and the small section which must have a base no larger than 30cm by 50cm. The sculptures do not have to be welded but must be free standing. Any recycled material will get you into the competition. I have one half made and several in my head that just have to be welded together. Next week, I keep telling myself. Maybee next time for some of them as the one I was supposed to do last year and this year is using material that is over 100 years old. I have to get it right. No second chances on that one. Be sure to get yours done as next week can very quickly turn into last week and you will miss out.

River levels

OUR Edward has been dropping and will continue to do so. There is about 850 megs going past us at the moment keeping the level at around 1.2 meters. For those that read my notes before April 1about the Queensland floods coming down here. No. They cannot get to us. The Darling River comes in down at Wentworth and anything above that goes down the Channel Country to Lake Eyre which is filling big time at the moment. If the Queensland floods ever reach us, everyone is in big trouble. Sorry if I caused anyone to worry. Always check the date of meetings around the start of April.
