No need to travel
IF you ever wanted to have a look at South Australia, you do not have to as South Australia came to us Monday night.
They have had a rough trot over there with the drought and their top soil decided to take a trip this week over to see us.
Let’s hope they get some rain out of the wild weather that they are having.
King’s Birthday bowls tournament
THE long weekend will see our two-day, two-bowls triples tournament happening, on June 7-8.
Last report there were 20 teams entered. There is room for a couple more.
There can also be someone that has to pull out, so you can go on the waiting list if you miss out.
Morning tea, a hot lunch and afternoon tea will be supplied both days.

All you need is a Medicare number. There is one at Berrigan as well as Deniliquin.

Road crash rescue training
WE had a great two days training last weekend.
A bit of a refresher for people like me that forget everything, and a great couple of days to get our new recruits trained up.
Just another reminder that we need more cars to practice on. They can be in any condition: straight, bent, burnt. We can make use of them.
Barham road crash rescue also need cars to practice on.
We can come out and pick them up to make it easier.

We have two days of training and refresher training for those that are interested.
The training will be in Moulamein on July 12-13.

We have “Demolition Dan” coming back. He really loves his job and is very keen to pass his great knowledge of things you will not see in the book as well as things in the book onto us.
Football/netball home to Hay this week
THE Mighty Swans had a rough day at the office last weekend in the footy but our netballers did ok.
While we still have football-netball in our town, we are all winners but the future of our league is still very uncertain.
On home matches, our canteen is quite often short of helpers.
Please do your duty or swap with someone. If you are not good at numbers like me, and do not want to serve there is a full-time job just putting chips into buckets and restocking the fridge.
If you have a few minutes to spare, stick your head in and ask Judy if she needs a hand.
It would be much appreciated and we will keep our name as the best canteen in our league.
Sculpture competition
JUST another reminder that our Moulamein Galleries bi-annual sculpture competition is coming up on Saturday, June 7.
This great event will be happening on the King’s Birthday weekend.
There is more than $2000 up for grabs.
There are two sections: the large section which must be able to be carried by two people and the small section which must have a base no larger than 30cm by 50cm.
The sculptures do not have to be welded but must be free standing.
Any recycled material will get you into the competition.
I have one half made and several in my head that just have to be welded together.
Next week, I keep telling myself.
Maybe next time for some of them as the one I was supposed to do last time and this year is using material that is more than 100 years old.
I have to get it right. No second chances on that one.
Be sure to get yours done as next week can very quickly turn into last week and you will miss out.
River levels
THE Edward River leveled off at about 750 megalitres this week keeping the level at around 1.1 metres.
Get your fishing rods out as they are draining Stevens Weir at the moment.
Our Edward should get to well over 1200ML per day.
The brief rise should get here this week then our Edward will go back down to minimum levels until it rains.
