A wheely good reward

Football-netball club commodity auction

THIS is the biggest fundraiser for Moulamein Football Netball Club for the season, Saturday night after the Ultima game.

I would like to thank all the businesses and people that have generously donated their time and goods to our big night.

Make sure you turn up to Moulamein Bowling Club to select a bargain.

The match against Ultima is at home this week. We are one each in the footy. We need to win to keep our finals hopes alive but I am sure Ultima has different plans.

Make sure you come over and cheer our teams on.

We do not know what’s happening next year. This year could very well be the last hurrah for our Golden Rivers league.

Water allocation increase

VICTORIA’S Murray high reliable allocations went up 1 per cent to 40 per cent of what they own.

Our Murrumbidgee irrigators got a surprise increase of 5 per cent to give them 9 per cent of what they own.

Our mates on the New South Wales Murray are in the same position as our Crow Eating mates — no increase.

The only difference is that our NSW Murray mates have 1 per cent of what they own and our Crow Eating mates are stuck on their 100 per cent that they never move off.

Road crash training

WHILE there was no football or netball, we had a two-day training course last weekend to get our new members up to speed and remind us old fellers what we already have already learnt.

This was a great weekend and we got one new member ticked off and a few more very close to be able to be in our road crash rescue team.

They can always turn up and help us, but to be able to go out without us they need to be ticked off.

$10,000 still up for grabs

THE owner of the custom-made trailer that was recently taken out of his backyard in Moulamein has kept up the reward of $10,000 for its return.

No questions asked. That might get a few tongues wagging.

If you need a quick 10 grand, point him in the right direction.

He will get the cash to you somehow.

September Classic

OUR next bowls tournament will be happening on August 30 and 31.

The reason this great event is called the September Classic is because it is a “gold letter event”.

We cannot change the board that says it is our September Classic.

There are not many of these tournaments left to get your name up in gold.

If you want your name up in gold in our Moulamein Bowling Club plus win a great cash prize, call Kerryn on 0407 800 111 to book in.

Positions are filling fast but we always need a couple of extras when someone pulls out.

It is a five-game, two-bowl triples event over two days.

Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be supplied both days.

Pigeon update

AN update on our Moulamein Bowling Club pigeon syndicate as people keep asking how they are going.

Our last race was 40km. Pidgearoomy came in 14th and Jessie Babe came in 21st.

I do not know how many of the original 1400 or so pigeons are left.

River levels

THE Edward River has continued to drop very slowly and is now at around 700 megalitres per day and around 1.05 metres.

The Edward is boatable to around 1m if you do not mind losing a prop every now and then.
