Swans swim to Central Murray

THERE could be a new name for Central Murray Football Netball League next year.

But whatever it is called, that is where the mighty Swans, or whatever we are allowed to be called next year, will be going.

Unfortunately, the Golden Rivers league will become a thing of the past next year.

We need a new home and whether they like us or not, we are heading to the Central Murray league.

As far as I know, they cannot say no to us joining.

It’s a big step for our little club, but it is that or fold.

We will get this season out of the way first, then we can go up against the big boys.

The top two positions on our ladder are set. The bottom spot on the ladder is set.

There are three of us going for two spots in the four and we all have to play each other in the next three weeks.

It will be an interesting last three weeks.

Rain

MOST reports I have heard is that everyone seemed to get 20mm or better over the weekend.

I keep saying it, but any farmer that is not smiling at the moment should start to look for a new job.

Keep it coming, Huey.

Footy Gods smiled down on us

IT may have been a long day at the office at Hay on Saturday, and they gave us a bit of a touch up, but the right teams won so we are still only out of the four by percentage.

We are at home tomorrow to Macorna.

If we manage a win, we are in the four as Murrabit play Wandella.

Three teams on the same points only separated by percentage.

Macorna will be on a high after their first win on Saturday.

Let’s hope the mighty Swans can stop them from getting two in a row.

Bush Nurse AGM

THEY hate me calling it this but the UHA Moulamein Community Health Committee is holding their AGM on Wednesday, August 6.

This great organisation was started in 1930.

If you are able to become part of this wonderful committee, please come to the AGM so we can continue to support our community health center.

Last chance

THIS is your last chance to view and/or purchase the Moulamein flood photographs and book by Stuart Holt.

The gallery sculpture exhibition is also closing soon.

This is your last chance to view and/or purchase a unique sculpture.

Our gallery is open Thursdays and Fridays, from 10am-4pm, for coffee and homemade cakes as well as art and local produce.

Open day

THE Edward River Gardens will be holding an open day on Saturday, August 9 between 9.30am and 12noon.

Morning tea will be provided. If you would like to see how the best care in the district is provided, call in for a cuppa and check it out.

If I ever get old, that is where I will be heading.

There could be a few different rules about happy hour when I get there.

But, I am sure we will be able to come to an agreement.

Edward River Gardens is also hiring at the moment.

Certificate III or higher in individual support or be willing to study is a must.

A one-bedroom unit is available to rent if accommodation is required. Phone (03) 5888 9555 for more information.

River levels

THE Edward River has had a small rise and is up to 7000 megalitres per day and just over 1m.

It has been too cold and wet for anyone to go fishing, so no report this week.
