Saints’ progress check

TOOLEYBUC Manangatang’s trip to Nyah tomorrow will give the Saints an opportunity to better gauge where they sit four games into the season.

The Saints are second on the ladder and undefeated, but yet to play a side above sixth-placed Mallee Eagles.

Nyah Nyah West United is fifth with two wins from four games, having already demonstrated some improvement in 2015.

The Saints hosted Cohuna before Interleague, with Mel Henson’s side remaining undefeated thanks to a 33-goal win over the Kangas.

Nyah Nyah West recorded its second win with a 19-goal victory over Koondrook Barham.

Henson said the Saints had an opportunity to further assess their development tomorrow.

“They’ve improved and it’ll be a tough game for us, but it’s a good opportunity to see where we’re at,” she said.

Henson said the Saints were wary of the influence of Carly-Marie Clark in defence as well as trying to find the best match up for Denise Snyder in goals.

“Carly-Marie is strong in defence and Denise with her height and ability is hard to match up on,” she said.

“It’s an opportunity for us to gauge how much work is still to be done.

“We’re happy with where we’re going but we know where we need to improve too.”
