Swans surge in second half

SWAN Hill have avenged their loss in last year’s grand final by defeating Lake Boga by 15 goals at the Alan Garden Reserve on Saturday.

With both teams taking on a vastly different look to the sides that met in last years decider, it was the Swans who prevailed 50-35 thanks to a dominant third term, with the home side outscoring the reigning premiers 16-goals to six in a dominant 15 minute period.

Swan Hill coach Casey Frame was delighted to secure her team’s second win of the season, with the Swans sitting outside the top five on percentage.

“Definitely happy with the win, it took us a while to find momentum, but we eventually did in the second half which is when we capitalised more with opportunities,” Frame said.

“Our defence worked hard against some really accurate goalies and our midcourters applied a lot of pressure, which also assisted with some turnovers.”

Jaya Jenkins-Jaiswal and Karli McIntyre were among the better players for Swan Hill, with Ruby Ryan and Jess Weaver the best for the Magpies.
