BEFORE we say goodbye to winter, the CFA is urging people to check that their electric blankets are in good working order.

CFA Chief Officer Jason Heffernan said the warning came on the back of a recent unit fire, caused by an electric blanket.

While the Hamilton residents escaped unharmed, Mr Heffernan said such incidents were avoidable.
