AN increase in complaints has prompted Murray River Council to urge dog owners to adhere to responsible pet ownership laws, particularly in areas where dogs are required to be on a leash.

The council said rangers had observed a rise in incidents where dogs were walked off-leash in parks and reserves that mandate leashing.
