JOHN Harvie was elected Murray River Council mayor at a special meeting of the new council in Moama on Tuesday.

Voting was conducted by a simple show of hands, where Cr Harvie received six votes to Cr Gen Campbell’s three. Cr Gary Pappin also nominated for mayor but the vote was exhausted.
