A SOLICITOR has asked that a Robinvale drug trafficker not receive a jail sentence longer than 12 months because he doesn't want to be deported.

However Magistrate Michael Coghlan refused, saying a sentence longer than a year was more than appropriate.

"It's trite to say drugs of dependence cause enormous harm to users in the community," he said.
