BALRANALD Shire Council has appointed experienced public servant Peter Bascomb as interim general manager.

Mr Bascomb, who has held general manager positions at other NSW councils for the past 23 years, started on Wednesday.

He replaces Glenn Carroll, who has been acting general manager for the past five months.
