SPEED was a serious problem on Mallee roads during the festive break, with more than 150 speeding offences detected.

Police detected 220 traffic offences in the Swan Hill police service area during an 18-day road safety operation over the Christmas and new year period.

The service area includes the Buloke, Gannawarra and Swan Hill municipalities.
