IN a change for Swan Hill's tourism industry, Victoria's levy on short-stay accommodation has started.

Described as an effort to balance the needs of residents, tourists and the housing market, the Short Stay Levy Act 2024 came into effect on January 1.

Introduced by the State Government, the levy will affect all short-stay accommodation booked for less than 28 days at a time.
