Uniting Church fire contained

SWAN Hill's Uniting Church had a lucky escape on Monday after firefighters contained a fire that broke out near the altar.

CFA units rushed to the scene about lunchtime after a passer-by reported smoke coming from the building, on the corner of Beverage and Rutherford streets.

Three Swan Hill trucks responded quickly and damage was confined to a small part of the building.
