GOULBURN-Murray Water has given an insight into how water storage is managed, as the region's rivers and lakes rise.

The level of the Murray River at Swan Hill has been rising since early June, with measurements on Tuesday showing a height of more than 3.9 metres.

This was an increase from 1.4 metres in early June, while the daily flow grew from less than 5800 megalitres a day to 23,250ML a day.
